Our Caring Doctors
Dr. Kocher was born and raised in Pittsburgh, then first came to State College to attend Penn State for Animal Bioscience. While in school, she met her future husband Kerry, a State College native, who grew up as a lifetime equestrian professional. Together they moved to Tennessee where Dr. Kocher attended The University of Tennessee for veterinary school, graduating in 1988. After graduating, Dr. Kocher returned to State College and purchased The State College Veterinary Hospital from its first owner. Dr. Kocher sees a variety of pets in her practice. Although the majority of her patients are dogs and cats, she also treats pocket pets and small exotics such as guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, birds and non-venomous reptiles. Her special interests are internal medicine and geriatrics. She is a member of both the AVMA and the PVMA, and she is secretary on the board of CPVETS emergency clinic. Tammy was born and raised in Illinois, and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, receiving her DVM in 1999. Upon graduation, she moved to North Carolina, where she practiced small animal medicine for eight years. During her stay there, she married and had two children. Wanting a change of pace, more seasonal weather and outdoor activities, her family moved to State College in March, 2007. The whole family loves the area and all it has to offer. Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include running, camping, hiking, and reading. She enjoys working at State College Veterinary Hospital, and especially soft tissue surgery and feline medicine. She is a member of the AVMA, PVMA, and the American Veterinary Dental Society. Her own pets include four cats and her dog Reese a.k.a. Reese Pup Blizzard.
