Boarding

State College Veterinary Hospital also offers boarding. Our knowledgeable staff can care for your animal while you are away. All animals are housed inside the hospital which has central heating and air conditioning. Dogs are kept seperate from the cats and are walked two or three times daily. We also offer boarding for exotics, however we require that their regular cage fits into one of our kennels. Please call for more details.
Boarding requirements and Prices
- We require that you bring proof from a licensed veterinarian that your animal is current for protection against RABIES, DISTEMPER (DHLPPC) and BORDETELLA (Kennel Cough) for dogs. The newly available canine influenza vaccine (H3N8) is also advised.
- We require that you bring proof from a licensed veterinarian that your animal is current for protection against RABIES and DISTEMPER(FVRCP) upper respiratory for cats.
We supply the following foods: Science Diet Adult Maintance, Purina Dog and Cat Chow, or Iams Low Residue Formula. If your animal does not eat one of these foods, we recommend that you bring your own food to reduce GI upset due to rapid food change.
We have bowls, blankets and litter boxes for your animal's stay. However we would be glad to take a labeled toy or small blanket to make your animal more comfortable during their stay. We prefer not to take dog beds because they are difficult, if not impossible for us to clean. We are not responsible for any lost or damaged blankets or toys while they are here.
Please bring any appropriate medications for your pet's stay along with detailed instructions. There is a $2.00 to $4.00 fee for us to medicate your pet while they stay at our kennel. The cost depends on how many medications your pet needs. Since our primary business is a veterinary hospital, our staff is trained to meet the needs of your four legged family member while you are away. Special need animals include the sick, elderly, or diabetic animals that need the monitoring and care of not just our techinicans but also our doctors.
