Meet our Dedicated Veterinary Technicians
Nikki, A senior technician and lifetime resident of central PA, has been with the practice since 2000. She orginally joined the practice as a part time employee but soon became a full time staff member. She graduated from Penn State where she studied Dairy and Animal science and gained small animal experience volunteering at a veterinary hospital while in high school. Nikki lives in Philipsburg with her husband and daughter along with their furry family consisting of 2 dogs, 4 cats, and 4 ducks. Her hobbies include camping, traveling, and is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Along with her duties as a technician, Nikki is our nutritional counselor keeping current with the latest developments in veterinary prescription diets, manages our puppy/kitten educational program, practice management, and is our Accounts Manager.
Billie is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, first joined our practice in 2003 as a part time employee while completing her internship. She became a full time employee in 2004 after graduating from Wilson College with a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. Billie grew up in central PA where she and her family have a strong background in the dairy industry. Billie and her husband reside in Howard and are kept very busy by their daughter, two dogs and a cat. In addition to be a senior technician here at SCVH, Billie oversees the inventory and purchasing of all medical supplies and products, client services, kennel procedures, and all the day to day aspects as the Practice Manager.
Jessie, originally from Knoxville TN, relocated to PA in 2003 when she joined our practice full time. She was a communications major at the University of Tennessee and gained much of her small animal experience while working at the SPCA in Knoxville. Jessie resides in McAlevey's Fort and is a mom to her 4 chihuahuas Kitty, Flea, Rucca and Dimitri. She is involved with the family farm raising goats and sheep. Jessie, is also one of the senior technicians, is in charge of keeping the clinic in compliance of OSHA regulations, organizing OSHA training for our staff and is responsible for handling manufacturer promotions and rebate programs.
Chelsea is a full time veterinary technician who joined our practice in 2009. She grew up in the State College area and graduated from State High in 2006. She attended Sweet Briar College in central Virginia for 2 1/2 years. She lives in town with her Cairn Terrier Alice. In her free time she enjoys riding and competing with her horse Paddy.
Melinda "Mel" was a full time staff member at SCVH for many years, but moved on in 2004 to sucessfully pursue her own pet sitting business which she has successfully done since then. In 2009 Mel rejoined the clinic in a part time position as a night nurse, with most of her responsibility being dedicated to after hours care of patients. In addition to her business, Mel is kept very busy being a mom to her daughter, Kyrianna as well as her large furry family.
Stephanie is a veterinary technician who joined our practice in November 2009. She is grew up in the area then moved to Anne Arundel County MD to gain more experinece and education n the veterinary field. She lives in Centre Hall and enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, dog, cat and ferret. She loves working with animals and being able to care for them and assist in their treatments.
Andy works a part time veterinary technician / fill in technician who has been with the practice since October 2010. He currently works full time at CPVETS emergency clinic and is hoping to go to veterinary school next year.
Jessi M. is a veterinary technician who has been working at SCVH full time since June 2010. Originally from Karthaus, she graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh with an associates degree in specialized technology. Jessi also works part time at CPVETS emergency clinic and loves spending time with her extended animal family; Sophie the dog, Tiger the cat and Rocko the guinea pig.
Christi was originally from Upstate New York, she lived in State College for 10 years and was a full time veterinary technician at SCVH from 2005-2010. After moving to Williamsport and getting married, Christi returned to SCVH in August 2011 on a part-time basis while she pursues a Bachelors Degree from Penn State in Animal Science. Christi is also pursuing an Assoicate degree from Penn Foster College in veterinary technology to become a LVT. In her spare time, Christi enjoys hiking, cross country skiing, cooking and doing crafts. Christi is the "mom" to 3 cats and a black and tan Coonhound.
Catherine started at SCVH in August 2011 as a part time veterinary technician. She Graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY with a B.S. in Biology, B.S. in ABEC (Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation) with a minor in Anthrozoology. Catherine's goal is to apply to veterinary school for admission in fall 2013. For now she is content living with her Fiance Robbie, dog Bailey, cat Cuzco, and sugar gliders Ruby and Pearl.
Nicole started at SCVH in August 2011 as a part-time veterinary technician. She is originally from Montgomery County PA where she grew up with a variety of animals. She moved to the State College area to attend Penn State, where she is currently double majoring in Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences and Immunology and Infectious Disease. When she is not preparing for veterinary school she enjoys competing on PSU's Rifle team and playing the bagpipes. She resides with her dog Pepper, cat Chloe, and 3 Flemish giant rabbits.
